Mary Miller MA, IBCLC, CPD

WNY Orofacial
Mary has been working in the field of public health and human services for over 20 years. She has extensive experience overseeing programs serving people with disabilities and mental health diagnoses. For nearly 10 years she’s been a certified perinatal doula offering birth and postpartum support, and currently teaches lactation courses for doulas with the Buffalo Doula Collective in Western, NY. In 2017, Mary opened WNY Orofacial & Breastfeeding Support Center, a specialty lactation private practice in East Aurora, NY, where she regularly mentors apprentices seeking IBCLC certification and helps families navigate the complex web of services to treat TOTs (tethered oral tissues), providing treatment for infants and young children to develop functional orofacial skills.

Mary received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Rhode Island, dividing her focus between documentary filmmaking and interpersonal communications. In 2018, she received her Master of Arts in Health and Wellness with a concentration in Lactation Studies from Union Institute & University. She is currently completing dissertation research in Union’s PhD program in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Public Policy & Social Change concentration where she is studying the health policy implications of undiagnosed orofacial dysfunctions in infants and children. She is delighted to also be part of Union Institute & University’s faculty teaching in the Bachelor of Science Maternal Child Health: Human Lactation program.
