The IATP  (International Affiliation of Tongue-tie Professionals) is an international, multi-disciplinary group of professionals who have come together out of a common interest in effective management of Ankyloglossia (Tongue Tie) and Upper Lip Tie.  Founded in 2009, our group is comprised of Medical Doctors, Dentists, Chiropractors, Osteopaths, IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants), Speech-Language Pathologists, Myofunctional Therapists and others.  Our goal is to improve knowledge, education and training in this field.  The IATP’s current focus centers on standardizing the conceptual definition of tongue-tie and other oral restrictions, classifying its types, developing protocols that optimize outcomes, explore the functional implications of oral restrictions to the infant and across the lifetime, generating assessment processes, and issue policy statements about early assessment, proper treatment and post-surgical therapy and follow-up.

IATP members remain dedicated to two main principles: the prevention of later-in-life problems due to untreated tongue-tie, and the education both professionals and the community based on both current research and solid clinical evidence.
